What is the Recovery like after Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)?

Recovery typically takes one week, although many may return to light work within a few days. Dry blood, mucus, and crusting in the nose may occur, presenting symptoms of nasal blockage, a severe cold, or sinus infection. Nasal irrigation or salt-water sprays help reduce crusting.

You should follow-up after one week for a check up and to remove any splints or packing if Dr. Pasha used them. Two weeks after the surgery Dr. Pasha will clean out any debris and crusts in you sinuses in the office (this is called sinus debridements). Sinus debridements reduce the chance of recurrence and a repeated from every few months to once or twice a year.
