Surgical Solutions | Balloon Sinuplasty™

For select patients, Dr. Pasha may consider using a surgical option to open blocked sinuses called Balloon Sinuplasty™. This FDA approved technique has been found to be less invasive with a quicker recovery time than traditional sinus surgery. Balloon Sinuplasty™ uses endoscopes (microscopic scopes placed into the nose) and catheter-based system to access the sinuses.

Dr. Pasha performs Balloon Sinuplasty™ in the operating room while you are under general anesthesia (you are completely asleep). Under the guidance of microscopic endoscopes placed through the nose, a wire and catheter-based system accesses the holes (openings) of your sinuses. Once identified, tiny balloons are gradually inflated to open the blocked sinuses similar to how angioplasty is used to open vessels in the heart. This opening allows for normal function and drainage of the sinuses.

Dr. Pasha may suggest Balloon Sinuplasty™ for those who have recurrent sinus infections. If your sinuses are severely inflamed or if you have polyps, you may not be qualified for a minimally invasive technique.

Dr. Pasha may consider combining your sinus surgery with a Septoplasty or Partial Turbinate Reduction to open the nasal cavity or allow access to the sinuses.

NOTE: Dr. Pasha also performs Balloon Sinuplasty™ for select patient in the office… click here for more information on Balloon Sinuplasty™ in the office.
